What divers say

What divers think about Halcyon

  • Halcyon has proved itself in the most demanding environments – world record breaking cave penetrations, deep wreck exploration, marine biology research and underwater archaeology.
  • Halcyon is used by recreational divers the world over for the sheer pleasure of diving with equipment which does not interfere with their enjoyment of the aquatic world.
  • Instructors and diving schools choose Halcyon diving equipment simply because it performs reliably, allowing them to concentrate on what’s most important – their students.

My cameras create enough clutter underwater so there are 3 things in particular I look for in the diving equipment I use: simplicity, reliability and good design.

Halcyon equipment is the best I have found to meet these criteria – eveything is out of the way until I need it, and when I do need it, it works flawlessly.

Richard Walker – GUE instructor

Wreck and Cave training

I have been using Halcyon equipment since around 1998. I bought my Explorer 40lb when the first batch came into the UK. It is still going strong today.

Halcyon started making the equipment that technical divers wanted at a time when no other manufacturer would entertain the clean and simplistic ideas behind the configuration. I have not forgotten the risk that they took with that business venture, and continue to support their innovative and effective designs. The equipment has a justified reputation for reliability and function, and I will continue to use Halcyon equipment in my diving.

Phil Short – cave explorer and technical instructor

Phil Short Technical Diver Training

As a professional Technical Diving Instructor and expedition diver the most important attributes of any piece of equipment is functionality and durability. This is especially important in primary equipment that directly affects the outcome of the safety of a given dive or dive operation.

My preferred diving environment for both tuition and expeditions is the cave environment and this tends to have a particularly high rate of attrition on all dive equipment. So finding something that does the job well and lasts has been an eternal quest over my twenty years of professional teaching, film work and expedition

Alison Mayor – underwater model

I love diving with my Halcyon Eclipse, it’s unique, simple and sleek design looks great in photographic images – where the emphasis is on the diver enjoying the underwater world – not the often cumbersome equipment we must wear. To me the strengths of my Halcyon equipment are simplicity and reliability.

It’s like diving with nothing on!” … I know it’s there but you can’t see it and the kit becomes part of you.

Leonard Slattery – Divemaster

Dive Ireland

The Halcyon Evolve system igives me exactly what I want – an uncluttered full range of motion with a simple and effective harness system. When divers get a hands-on feel of the wing in the water through the Halcyon Rental Programme and see how easy it is to get on and off but how effectively it holds you in place they soon come around to recognise that this system is superior to any on the market.

When they realise that the system can evolve with their needs they are even more impressed. They can’t believe it one harness and backplate can be used from open water all the way up to wreck and cave diving – only the wing needs to be changed.

As a Diving Instructor, I spend hours in the water – which demands reliable and well designed equipment. Halcyon ensures that the equipment meets the needs of divers at all certification levels and provides a simple upgrade path – from single to double cylinders.

The excellent Halcyon build quality and simplistic design ensures that I can comfortably deliver diver training in a safe and enjoyable manner.
